Using signature black cotton shirt and trouser stlyes as a canvas Alfie Kungu put his mark into the fabric. Removing the colour from the black cotton in the shape of butterfly silhouettes, to be delicately dyed with purple and blue hues. There is a bold white placement print over the top with bone chain details reminiscent of 90's silk shirts. Bone Stone Soil & Wood text covers the body like the jurassic leopard spots of Fred Flinstones tunic (is that the right word?)
At once dated and futuristic, 'The Flintstones' looked to the future through a stone age lens. Alfie Kungu is a London based, Yorkshire born artist. Kungu’s paintings consist of robust, bold palettes with a rhythmic and chaotic nature. Influenced by 90s cartoons, his work often features animated characters to create an immersive and abstract world.
